About this course
Zilker Park is where Austin learns to play disc golf. Wide-open fairways with the city skyline as your backdrop, gentle distances, and baskets that forgive the wobbly first throw. It's the course every local recommends to a friend picking up a disc for the first time.
Don't let the beginner label fool you — the wind coming off Lady Bird Lake turns the longer, exposed holes into genuine challenge. And on a Saturday afternoon, you'll be sharing the park with every other disc golfer in town, so pack patience along with your putter.
Free to play, dawn to dusk, with plenty of parking near the Zilker Botanical Garden entrance.
Hole 10 is the longest at Zilker at 367 feet, and the one that separates the tourists from the locals. It's wide open to the wind off Lady Bird Lake, so a calm putter shot can suddenly be a 60-mph negotiation. On a good day it's just another par 3; on a breezy Saturday it's the round's real test.
